Anchor text
Anchor text is the clickable words in a link.
In a link that says "pricing guide", the words "pricing guide" are the anchor text. Search engines read it to learn what the linked page is about. This works for links between your own pages and for a backlink from another site.
Use plain words that describe the page, not "click here". Write them the way a person would, not the same exact keyword every time. When you get backlinks, ask for a link on words that name what you do. Link your own pages on the term, the way this glossary links SEO.
