Ideal customer profile (ICP)
Also called ICP.
An ideal customer profile (ICP) describes the kind of company or person most likely to buy from you, get value and stay.
For B2B it names the industry, company size, the decision-maker's job title, and the problem that makes them look for help now. For D2C it describes a person and the moment they need your product. It fits on one card.
Without one, every channel and message is a guess. Write it from your best customer, or from customer interviews if you have none. Use it to build your lead list and shape your go-to-market plan. Create an ideal customer profile and change it when real buyers prove it wrong.

- How to create an ideal customer profileCreate an ideal customer profile when you have one or two customers: list everyone who paid, tried or talked to you, write 2 or 3 one-sentence guesses, test them with 100 messages a day, and keep the one that gets the most chats after 1,500 messages.
- How to do customer interviewsDo customer interviews when you have almost no customers: 7 questions about the last time the problem happened, 100 messages a day to book 20-minute calls, a notes sheet in their exact words, and a Sunday count that puts those words into your marketing.
